Label or placeholder?

Labels and placeholder can greatly improve usability of your forms. What if you do not have much space? Using placeholder only, may deny access if the attribute is not supported. A new pattern has been circulating lately: an input that appears as if it has placeholder text in it, but when you click/tap into that input, that text moves out of the way and allows you to type there. Many solutions has been suggested. I like this one, found on CSSTricks.com. Give it a try. Our friend Brad Frost has a great post on the Pros and Cons of this pattern.
